The business takes its name (“draga” means “precious, dear”) after the place where most of the nine hectares of vineyards are located. The Miklus family have been running it for three generations already. At the helm of the company is Milan who, after renovating the vineyards thirty years ago, produced the first bottles of wine in 1992. Soon his high-quality wines started having considerable success, so he decided to enlarge his vineyards and build a cellar. Now he produces a new line of wines, with which he wants to bring attention to the achievements of the new generation of wine producers represented by Denis and Mitija. These wines are labelled “Miklus”, while the pure-varietal white wines Ribolla and Friulano, the blend “Bianco di Collina” and the Cabernet Sauvignon carry the label “Draga”. Three white wines, comprising the raisin wine passito Picolit and the bordolese blend “Negro di Collina” are also named after the Miklus family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1455964151946{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Gradisciutta_1.jpg?id=832) !important;}” background_style=”image-right” color_style=”light-wrapper”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Robert Princic took over the rains of the family business in 1997 with the help of his tireless parents. He renovated and enlarged the old cellar, and created his own brand, making his wines known to consumers and wine experts. Customers and tourists visiting the area are always welcome in his cellar and Robert is always ready to respond to market challenges. Some years ago, for example, he launched a joint venture with a wine producer from Slovenia. Together they created the sparkling wine Rebolium-Sinefinis (Ribolla – Without borders), made with Ribolla grapes from the Collio region in Italy and Rebula grapes from the Brda region in Slovenia. This wine was even served to the Italian and Slovene heads of state on the occasion of an official meeting. Despite the success of their wines, the Princic family business has always been driven by modesty, discretion and respect. Respect for the land on which they grow also vegetables and cereals and where they produce olive oil.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1456248514551{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Humar.jpg?id=833) !important;}” background_style=”image-left” color_style=”light-wrapper”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Antonio Humar started producing fruit and vegetables at the start of the 20th century. Back then he only owned two hectares of land. In the 1950s, his sons Marcello and Marino gradually moved out of fruit farming, an activity that was no longer profitable, and decided to only focus on winemaking. Marcello and Marino have been producing their own wine for half a century now and their vineyards cover 30 hectares of land. Captured in their wines are the fragrances of the fruit that the family grew for generations. Azienda agricola Humar produces a brut sparkling wine with Chardonnay grapes and six varieties of white wines. They also make four different red wines: three single-varietals and a blend called Rogoves. Their production comprises three kinds of sweet wines: the traditional Picolit wine, the Moscato and the DiVino”, a straw wine obtained from a selection of Chardonnay grapes which is kept in barrique barrels for a year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1456248547974{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/App-Agr-Kovac.jpg?id=830) !important;}” background_style=”image-right” color_style=”light-wrapper”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

The Korsic family home and the Kovac holiday farm are surrounded by meadows, vineyards, olive trees and fruit trees. At the helm of the family business is Rudi. He is helped by his sons Fabjan and Mitja, and by his son-in-law. All three are experts in the winemaking industry and have been planting vines for other wine producers in the local area and in Tuscany since 1997. Now they are putting to good use the experience they have acquired while working all around Italy by playing an active role in the family business. For years, the grapes produced by the Korsic family were sold to other wine producers. Now, however, the family uses part of the harvest to make their own wine: a traditional white Collio made from the Friulano, Malvasia Ribolla grapes growing in vineyards that are sometimes as old as 25 years. They also produce a red wine blend with Merlot and Cabernet franc grapes. The Korsic family also produces a considerable quantity of olive oil.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1456248609139{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Muzic.jpg?id=835) !important;}” background_style=”image-left” color_style=”light-wrapper”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Elija and Fabijan, the representatives of the new generation of winemakers, both study oenology at the Agricultural Institute in Cividale since in the future they would like to take over the family business. A business that has grown on the land where their great-grandfathers settled in 1927. Winemaking and fruit farming have always been the family’s main activities. Elija and Fabijan’s parents, Ivan and Orieta, bought the property where their family home is located, enlarged the vineyards and introduced state-of-the-art technology. Thanks to these changes the family now has an annual production of around 100,000 bottles. Next to their home there is one of the oldest cellars in the area, which dates back to the 17th century and which witnessed several wars. Recently it was renovated and now it serves as a tasting room for the wine produced by the Muzic family: from the white wine “Bric” from the Collio region, to the local varieties Malvasia, Yellow Ribolla, Friulano and Picolit. White wines include the Pinot grigio, Sauvignon and Chardonnay varieties, while the red wines produced by the family business are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row background_style=”image-right” color_style=”light-wrapper” css=”.vc_custom_1456248643801{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Paraschos.jpg?id=836) !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

Vanghelis came from Thessaloniki to Trieste to study pharmacy. After finishing his studies he realised he would rather start producing a beverage that, if taken in moderate doses, has positive, healing properties on our body: wine. This is how he started making wine with his wife, who is a local. At that time, Vanghelis’ vineyards were situated between the village of San Floriano del Collio and the hamlets of Sant’Andrea, Gradiscutta and Oslavia. Since back then he had a very small cellar, he started off by producing wine from only one blend of grapes. Today he has a larger, traditional cellar, part of which is dug into the “ponca” stone. Here is where several natural wines are produced. In his vineyards Vanghelis uses neither fertilizers nor herbicides. On each vine grow only a few grapes and treatments are kept to a minimum. Wine is produced without any clarification, stabilisers or filtration. Together with his sons Alexis and Jannis, Vanghelis only produces single-varietal wines under the “Greek Pi” trademark. These include the “Kai” (Friulano), the “Not” (Pinot grigio), the “Noir” (Pinot nero), the Yellow Ribolla and blends such as the “Ponka” white wine. Recently, the family has opened a B&B with six double rooms. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and four of the rooms can accommodate an extra bed. They also have a new venue ideal for wine tastings or other kinds of events that accommodates groups of 20-30 guests.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row background_style=”image-left” color_style=”light-wrapper” css=”.vc_custom_1456248692827{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Komjanc-Simon.jpg?id=834) !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

The Komjanc family has been living in Valerisce for 150 years, since great-great-grandfather Francesco and his wife purchased some plots of land and built the family home in which their seven children grew up. After they passed away, the house was home to the new generations. After the First World War, it was renewed. While some family members were still making a living thanks to farming, the younger generations decided to study and pursue other professions. In the aftermath of the Second World War, the family gradually moved out of their fruit farming and beekeeping activities and only focused on winemaking. Today, the business is run by Simon and his son Evgen. The family owns 22 hectares of land, 11 of which are vineyards, and produces nine different types of wine: from local wine varieties to international ones, including a special wine called ‘900. This wine is produced in a limited edition. The grapes are kept in vats and crushed by foot, just like in the past, to keep old traditions alive.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1456248779485{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Skok_1.jpg?id=837) !important;}” background_style=”image-right” color_style=”light-wrapper”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

The family business was founded in 1968, when brothers Giuseppe (Pepi) and Armando Skok bought an old mansion in the village of Giasbana, not far from the church. The building, which dated back to the 16th century, belonged to the Attems family, who renovated it – as commemorated by a plaque from1757 – and subsequently to the Teuffenbachs. Since the 1970s, the Skok family has always gone against the tide and privileged French wine varieties. Pepi has chosen to focus in particular on the Pinot grigio and Sauvignon wines, and many other winemakers have followed his example. Since 1991, when Pepi’s sons Edi and Orietta took over, the business has been producing also Chardonnay and Merlot wines, both as pure-varietals and as blends. In their Villa Jasbinae the family have set up a tasting room and now they are finalising their new cellar. Nevertheless, they all know that wine is made first and foremost in the vineyard.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row background_style=”image-left” color_style=”light-wrapper” css=”.vc_custom_1456248833216{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Terpin.jpg?id=838) !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

There once was a Mr Terpin from the village of San Floriano. In the 18th century he was a member of the Arcadia literary academy. However, it is Franco Terpin who has been leading a really arcadian and idillic lifestyle day after day in the vineyards that were planted on several plots and have grown with him. Franco is cheerful and hard-working. He has decided to help his vines grow by planting them close to the woods so that they would be protected, and by not using any insecticides, herbicides or fertilizers. In the cellar the grapes undergo a short fermentation process on the skins, followed by a year-long fermentation with yeasts in small oak barrels. Lastly, the wine is poured into steel casks without filtering or clarification. Franco’s aim is to bring out of his grapes their natural talents and their expressive power by following his personal philosophy. He produces three pure varietals – the Yellow Ribolla, the Friulano (Tocai) and the Pinot grigio, also known as Sialis grigio – and three blends: the white and red Stamas and the white Sialis.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row background_style=”image-right” color_style=”light-wrapper” css=”.vc_custom_1456248874400{background-image: url(https://www.vinoteka.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Az-Agr-Vogric-Ivan.jpg?id=839) !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

The year 1932 marked a turning point for the family’s history. That year Ivan’s grandparents on his father’s side, who were neighbours, got married and joined their two small family businesses. In the 1960s, their son Luciano purchased the property on which they grew vineyards and 300 cherry trees, in line with an old tradition of the Collio region. Over the decades that followed, the family specialised in winemaking. Ivan went to study to the Agricultural Institute in Cividale and graduated in viticulture and oenology in 1984. The family business gained new impetus. Innovative techniques were introduced and several neighbouring plots of land were purchased. Now their property extends on 11 hectares of land. Since 2004, they have been producing their own wines: Friulano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the red wine Cabernet Sauvignon. They have also opened a wine tasting room for guests. All this has been possible also thanks to the recent marriage of Ivan to Katja, who shares the passion for wine.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
